Description:
The Carter Lake Junior Sailing Camp, sponsored by the Carter Lake Sailing Club is an educational program, open to children ages 8 to 18. Children and youth learn basic sailing knowledge, boating safety, knots, boat rigging, and fundamental sailing techniques. The mission of the CLSC Junior Sailing Program is to teach children and youth basic sailing knowledge, boating safety, knots, boat rigging and fundamental sailing techniques. The goal is to foster a love for the sport and to learn in a fun, supportive and safe environment. The 5 days CLSC Junior Sailing Camp vary slightly. A typical day starts at 8am with volunteers ensuring the set-up of boats at the dock/camp activities at the CLSC Clubhouse. Campers are dropped off and signed in at the CSLC clubhouse at 8:15-8:30am. Instructors facilitate a brief discussion of the agenda/objectives and then instruction starts at the clubhouse from 8:30-10:30am. From 10:30-12:30pm, campers and volunteers walk to the CLSC Courtesy Dock. After rigging boats, the campers are launched in the dinghy sailboats to learn/practice the skills and objectives of the day. There is a break for lunch at approximately at 12:30-1pm followed by afternoon sailing practice and de-rigging the boats from about 3-4pm. Instructors facilitate a debrief discussion and campers are picked up and signed out at the CSLC clubhouse starting at 4pm. Volunteers clean-up from 4-5pm.

Additional Information Submitted by Applicant

1. Date Submitted: 03/26/2024
A revised Emergency Plan is attached based on the following feedback "Agency Requesting Information: Loveland Fire 1. Please revise the Emergency Plan to show emergency contact phone number for Loveland Fire Rescue Authority is 911. Do not use a fire station number, as the crew for Station 7 could already be on an emergency response and would not be able to be reached. Resubmit with the correct information and I will review again" The information revised/added is from https://lfra.org and differentiates emergency and non-emergency contact information.

2. Date Submitted: 03/26/2024
I revised the Emergency Plan to separate emergency from other phone numbers. I also bolded and put in red to call 911. Let me know if this works.

3. Date Submitted: 03/26/2024
Attached is a revised weather plan that answers this question. 1. Do you have specific "triggers" for the weather EAP? Such as, lightning within 10 miles, wind speed greater than 25 mph, etc.?

Comments: 3/28/24: Please see numbers 3 and 4 below. Thank you. 1. Please revise the Emergency Plan to show emergency contact phone number for Loveland Fire Rescue Authority is 911. Do not use a fire station number, as the crew for Station 7 could already be on an emergency response and would not be able to be reached. Resubmit with the correct information and I will review again. 2. Do you have specific "triggers" for the weather EAP? Such as, lightning within 10 miles, wind speed greater than 25 mph, etc.? Thank you. 3. Thank you for your fast response! Could you make it more obvious that ANY emergency is 911? Maybe put it in a box above the phone numbers? Please resubmit with correction. 4. Thank you for adding detail to the weather plan. The National Lightning Safety Institute (at lightningsafety.com) provides specific distance requirements regarding lightning distance from the event. They establish a lightning radius of 6-15 miles, depending on time needed to get participants to safety, and typically states a minimum of 30 minutes after all lightning is out of a defined area before resuming activities. Can you please add more detail related to lightning on the weather plan? Thank you.
