The purpose of Taste of Estes is to raise funds for causes and programs that the Estes Park Quota funds in the the form of grants to local nonprofits and scholarships. This event also highlights and promotes over 20 local restaurants and food/beverage vendors. Restaurants and vendors each have a table around the edge of the room, where they will serve guests samples of their offering. Tables for seating are located in the middle of the room and in the outside foyer area. Guests move at their leisure around the room to get food samples and then eat. For those wishing to taste alcohol samples, there is a check in table upon arrival for ID check and they are given drink tickets to control the number of drinks offered.

Comments: --The Health Department does not have significant concerns for the event at this time. --Aaron McDowell from the Consumer Protection Program spoke with the Event Coordinator regarding food service. Coordinator explained that only small samples were to be provided by the vendors. Vendors are licensed brick-and-mortar establishments from the Town of Estes Park. Aaron explained to the coordinator that Consumer Protection does not require temporary vendor permits for licensed retail food establishments sampling at an event SO LONG AS samples are approximately 2 oz in size. If significant amounts of food are provided or prepared, a temporary vendor would be required for these establishments. The Event Coordinator agreed to work with her vendors to make sure sample sizes are appropriate to maintain exemption. --The emergency action plan lists the address of the nearest hospital as the event location. It is reccomended to update this with the address of the nearest hospital. Please ensure volunteers and staff are familiar with this plan. --It is understood that restrooms in the assembly hall will be utilized for the event.

Comments: YMCA is an established event provider/site with security on staff. I would recommend (but not required) hiring at least 1 or 2 deputies due to alcohol being served and the anticipated capacity (400 + staff/volunteers).
