Description:
The XTERRA Lory Triathlon is an off-road mountain biking triathlon that takes place at Lory State Park. The parking, staging, biking, running, and finish line are all fully contained inside Lory State Park. The swimming portion takes place inside N. Eltuk Bay of Horsetooth, contained close to shore and not entering into the main channel of Horsetooth. The triathlon has operated with the same course, and at the same participant size for the past 17 years. The athletes start with a 750m swim in N. Eltuk Bay at 7:15am, with athletes out of the water by 8:15am, then the competitors transition to a 12 mile multi-loop mountain bike at Lory State Park, and finish with a 4.8 mile trail run at Lory State Park. All parking and staging take place at Lory State Park. Our medical team, Rapid Response Paramedics, has been our medical team for 15 years, with paramedics and EMTS on mountain bikes covering the course, and also lifeguard/paramedics on rescue jet ski's for the water portion.
