Comments: The Health Department has no significant concerns and ask that the standard requirements are followed for race events: -Water for drinking and preparing energy drinks shall be from a public, treated water supply, and transported and dispensed in clean food grade containers. -The application indicates that no food will be served, but the event website states there will be post-event food and drinks. All food vendors are required to have a 2023 retail food license or 2023 temporary event license. -Please note that if any food and beverage will be available at aid stations it shall be limited to water, energy drinks, gels, and other commercially prepared, prepackaged/shelf-stable food items (such as individually prepackaged snacks) or whole, uncut fruits or vegetables. Foods and drinks that require preparation/refrigeration are not approved without proper permitting. -Provide first aid kits at aid stations for minimal injuries as well as effective communication services in the event of an emergency throughout race course. -Portable restrooms, including ADA compliant units, will be provided to supplement the Lory State Park permanent restroom facilities. Please ensure adequate trash receptacles are provided throughout the race course and start/transition/finish areas. -The packet did not mention portable handwashing stations for the finish area. At least one handwashing station shall be provided for participants to wash hands as part of the post-race events/finish area restrooms. -Please ensure that all staff and volunteers are familiar with the emergency communications plan.
