Description:
I am a research ecologist with the USFS Rocky Mountain Research Station located in Fort Collins. As part of my research on the responses of wildlife to increased recreation on National Forests, my goal is to record audio of various recreation types (e.g., mountain biking, skiing), and group sizes of recreationists. These recordings will be part of a larger experiment on the Bridger-Teton National Forest in WY that pairs camera trips with audio playback devices of the recreation sounds. The recordings will be collected by me on fair weather days. They will be collected passively - i.e., no interactions or requests of the people recreating. No video or photography will occur - I will be equipped with a small recording device set on a tripod a set distance from selected trails.

I will need more guidance about this insurance requirement. I have never needed insurance for conducting research of any sort in the past. The USFS insures me for any work accidents but I cannot imagine the agency providing any special level documentation for insurance specific to Larimer County lands.
