Description:
Raisin’ Roots Friday Farmers Market is a a small farmers market located on the Raisin’ Roots property every Friday between 3pm to 6pm from May through October. Raisin’ Roots Farm located at 2229 West Vine Drive, Fort Collins, CO 80521.

This market is a way for community members to access local fresh food from their local vendors. This event is hosted on a Friday to not interfere with the Larimer County Farmers Market, as well as provide more opportunities for locals to obtain local products. At this event, we accept SNAP/EBT benefits for our farm fresh produce and match your benefits dollar for dollar with Double Up Food Bucks.

While vendors may change depending on seasonal availabilities, this event can typically offer local kombucha, fermented foods, bread, grass-fed and pastured Red Feather beef, dairy, plant-based foods and more! It also features one local food truck per week, emphasizing Fort Collins businesses that specialize in using local foods. We are working with the County and City officials to increase access for community members to purchase more local products.

16. Site of the property indicating buildings on the property, where the farm stand will be held, where parking will be:

Please see both attachments: “Parking for Spectators” and “Parking for Vendors”. Within the “Parking for Spectators”, this indicates where parking will be. There is public parking within this vicinity that has extended shoulders for parking beyond a bike lane. In years past, there has not been any issues with this parking location, and we have outreached to our customers and neighbors to ensure safety and convenience, as well as ensure we are not causing an annoyance for our neighbors. We have explicit permission from all of our immediate neighbors.

If you observe the “Parking for Vendors”, this map shows where the zone for vendors to park, as well as set up their booths. Within the site of the market, there is only one building on the property that has within this zone. This building as a two-walled shelter that is used as a pavilion.

Additional Information Submitted by Applicant

Regarding the question about the farm stand building. All vendors bring their own 10x10 tents and tables. The Farm's booth will be set up under the building highlighted in red. It is simply an overhang. No electrical, plumbing, or any other infrastructure is in the overhang. It is completely open on 3 of 4 sides, roof overhead.
I can provide a portable restroom if this is necessary. However, I was informed that due to the nature of the event, customers generally only spending 30 minutes or less at the farm, I may not be required to have a restroom available for the public. Is this the case?
Thank you.

Status: Approved

Comments: A Site Plan should show everything associated with the Special Event, not just parking on site for vendors and on a public road for customers. As per the excerpt shown above, "Site of the property indicating buildings on the property, where the farm stand will be held, where parking will be..." What building will be used for a farmstand? An existing agricultural building? A new building? Will the public be allowed inside? A building permit is required for a change of occupancy from a utility building to a business/mercantile occupancy with public access. Issues like disabled accessibility, exiting, and bathroom facilities must be addressed. On the other hand, if only "employees" of the Special Event are inside a farmstand, sitting at an outward-facing table where customers are served, no change of occupancy permit is needed. New farmstand buildings exceeding 200 sq. ft. need building permits, as do any associated electrical, gas pipe or plumbing work. Providing portable bathrooms for customers (with at least one accessible) is still required.

6/16/22 More info provided. Only "building" used as part of event is a roofed overhang with no walls on 3 of 4 sides, therefore no exiting or accessibility issues, and no permit needed for this event. I defer to the LC Dept. of Health and Environment regarding whether portable toilets are needed, based on anticipated duration of customer stays. IF portapotties are needed, at least one must be disabled-accessible.
