The event is located in Estes Park, CO and will be staged primarily at the Stanley Park (ball fields) & Cherokee Draw on the south side of Lake Estes. The race course will utilize a pedestrian/bike path surrounding Lake Estes, as well as the following county roads:

Description:
The Vacation Races, Rocky Mountain Half Marathon & 5K is excited to return to Estes Park for it's 8th annual event! This is one of our original events, and we look forward to this race every year to show this community off to both new and existing racers.

On Friday, July 30th we'll host our race expo from 11am - 5pm, located at the large ball field of Stanley Park. At 6:00pm, the 5K and FUN RUN will commence with a course that circles Lake Estes. On Saturday, July 31st, the half marathon will start at 6:00am as runners embark on a challenging yet beautiful course that highlights the surrounding mountains (including views of RMNP), as well showcasing the town of Estes Park. The event should draw roughly 1800 participants, distributed between both the 5K and half marathon race.


Requirements
Vacation Races is prepared to provide an Operation Plan, course map, and Traffic Control Plan in accordance with the event.
•The Operation Plan includes a detailed course description, staging areas, start and finish line locations, parking, and general guidelines and rules for the event.
•The course map will show course mileage as well as indicate where aid stations will be located. It also displays where EMS services, and toilets will be staged.
•The TCP shows where officers will be located, where cones are to be placed, as well as any special event signage and information boards will be placed to inform both participants and residents of the event. This course will not require a full road closure. Runners will either be on pedestrian paths, a sidewalk running parallel to the road, or along a shoulder where course marshals, cones, or officers will be stages to ensure runner safety as well as proper traffic flow. The Traffic Control Plan has been approved by the Estes Park Police Department.

Emergency Plan: EMS services have been scheduled to be present at both the finish line and at a centralized location along the course in order to answer to the call of any medical emergencies. In addition, race staff will have radios to communicate and assist in any emergencies that are otherwise not life-threatening.

Health Department: The Larimer County Health Dept. has approved this event as no food vendors will be present. In addition, any food being distributed at the race expo or the finish line will be pre-packaged food or otherwise food that has been approved to be handed out (i.e. shelf stable chocolate milk, and un-peeled bananas).

Litter/Cleanup: Vacation Races will supply, manage, and clean-up all forms of waste including, compostable material, recyclables, and trash. In addition, the race staff will pick up all signage that is required to notify the town of the event, within 24 hours of the event.

It was noted in the operations manual that the aid stations on the County roads will have water, gels, energy drinks, toilets, and trash cans.

Per the event description, other post-race/event foods will be shelf-stable prepacked foods like drinks and fruit. If other prepared post-event food is offered, the food shall be prepared by a Colorado licensed retail food vendor, Larimer County licensed temp event vendor, or a Larimer County nonprofit organization per food safety regulations.

Portable handwashing stations are recommended at any portable toilet stations in the the expo/start/finish area. Restrooms on-site at the fairgrounds have access to handsinks.
