People are bringing their own food. We have several trash cans and recycling on site, and at the and of the event, we collect the trash cans that evening and store them in the locked garage until garbage day. We are lucky to have not had any bears on the property yet...thanks!

Status: ApprovedComments: The applicant lists this as a family reunion/ BBQ but then states there will be no food served. This area is prone to bear activity and if food is being served I would like to know what the applicant's plan is for storing the trash over night to avoid bear conflicts.
Applicant has clarified that guests will bring their own food and plans to secure all trash in containers and will keep the containers secure in a locked garage until trash day. CPW approves the application based on this stipulation that the applicant will keep all trash secure to avoid conflicts with bears.
Status: ApprovedComments: The applicant stated that the property has 2 bathrooms for use by guests. Please note that this residence is not served by public sewer and is on a septic system that is not designed to accommodate 150 people. In addition, the Assessor database indicates that this residence was built in 1967 and the Health Department has no recorded septic system permit on file. With no information on the septic system and understanding the age of the residence, 150 guests flushing toilets and using water at sinks will overwhelm the septic system. If the older septic absorption field becomes saturated from the excess qualities of water, this could result in the tank overflowing and contaminating the ground as well as wastewater backing up into the house. In addition, the septic system may not recover from this use which will require costly replacement. To save the septic system, the event shall supply portable restrooms. For a 7 hour event, it is recommended to have 3-4 portable restrooms, with a minimum of 2.
Handwashing stations should also be provided next to the portable restrooms. These can be rented from the same sanitation company as the rented portable restrooms, or the hosts can make their own. An example for a camping handwashing station is available on this website and several others:
