Status: ApprovedComments: Please note that in addition to this Larimer County Health Department review for the Special Event Application, the Event Coordinator has also submitted an application for COVID-specific operations with the Larimer County Health Department's Emergency Operations Center (EOC). It is understood that the COVID specific operations have not been approved at this time as our County's 'Openness Status' for the end of January is unknown.
The Event Coordinator will have to continue to work with our Health Dept EOC on their Public Health Variance for events. Please note that an approval for this Special Event Permit does not guarantee that the event can still occur. The event shall follow all Public Health Orders and Openness Status Level requirements at the time of the event date if allowed to occur.
Please continue to monitor our website for event allowances based on County Openness Status Level:
If you have questions for the COVID-plan review process, please call the EOC's Joint Information Center: 970-498-5500 (open Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 4:30 pm); or,
Text questions: 970-999-1770
Standard race and outdoor event requirements include the following, but due to COVID, some of these may change or not be allowed:
Please ensure foods served at the aid stations in Larimer County are individually packed and not open for self-service. Only shelf-stable foods that can be served at room temperature (no refrigeration required) are allowed with out a retail food license.
All beverages served at aid stations shall be individually packaged, or offered in single-use disposable cups. If dispensing from bulk containers, please ensure the containers have been cleaned and sanitized and are designed of food-grade materials. Only treated water from municipal supplies may be used for beverages.
The even takes place in Larimer County Parks, therefore additional restroom needs shall be addressed with that Dept. It is always recommended to have facilities available at the start/finish area, and halfway through the race. It is strongly recommended that handwashing stations (in addition to hand sanitizer) be provided for portable restroom areas and LC Parks restroom facilities lacking hand sinks.
Trash cans shall also be available in the area of the aid stations and restrooms to prevent miscellaneous items being disposed in the restroom holding tanks (portable toilets and park restroom vaults).
