Special Event Permit Detail
Application InformationID: 5777 Event: Nic and Erins Wedding
Application Date: 08/01/2020 Event Date: 06/12/2021
Event InformationPermit Type(s): Parks and Open Spaces
Type of Event: Wedding
EVENT: We're applying to hold our Sunday, June 12th, 2021 wedding ceremony at the Rotary Park day use area in the Horsetooth Reservoir County Park. This application is for the ceremony only; the reception will be held elsewhere in Fort Collins. We expect between 65 and 75 attendees.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ON THE PARK: The environmental impact of the actual ceremony will be minimal; no throwing of rice or other tchotchkes, nor will we be using any major decorations or even ceremony programs. Though we don't anticipate any trash, in order to ensure this we will deputize a few attendees to double-check after the ceremony. There will be no fire, flammables, drinks, or any other dangerous or prohibited items.
NOISE: We anticipate using one small amplifier for the officiant and perhaps an acoustic guitar playing classical music, but will not have loud music or other disturbances.
TRAFFIC/PARKING: The wedding party will be transported by a bus. The other 40 people will car pool. We will be needing the parking spaces for people attending.
DAY USE: We will only be using the flat area overlooking the cliff and will not be interfering with the trailhead or elsewhere in the park. The ceremony itself will take no more than 45 minutes, from 4:00pm to 4:45pm. We would likely have a few people setting up some chairs and a small shade canopy during the 3pm hour, and would be vacated from the park by 5:00pm at the latest. We will post a small sign the day of informing other park-users of the 4pm wedding.
COMPLIANCE: We will follow all local regulations and ordinances.
STAFF/EQUIPMENT: We would have a few people (likely family members) setting up some chairs and a small shade canopy during the 3pm hour, and would be vacated from the park by 5:00pm at the latest. We will post a small sign the day of informing other park-users of the 4pm wedding.
ALTERNATIVES: We have scouted out a number of spots in Larimer County and the Horsetooth Reservoir area specifically and found Rotary Park is by far the most suitable area in terms of enough space to accommodate 75 people, a flat surface for the event, beautiful views, and minimal impact on others who want to enjoy the general area.
TOILET/PARKING: There is a public bathroom and plenty of parking spots. Because we will use a shuttle to transport most people, the actual number of spots our guests use will be minimal.
RECLAMATION OF DISTURBED AREAS: We anticipate no disturbance to the local environment as a result of this event. People will be sitting or standing in a small, confined area during the ceremony and utilizing footpaths to get there. It is already a day-use area which sees plenty of human activity on a daily basis, so the impact will be negligible. The wedding itself and attendees will avoid all sensitive natural areas.
INSURANCE: Unclear as to what insurance would be required for a short, low-risk event like this.
MEDICAL/SANITATION PLAN: Given the low-key nature of the event, we do not anticipate the need for a medical official present. Several of the attendees are medical professionals should anything arise, and we will bring a shade canopy for older folks in case it's an especially hot day. There are bathrooms already on site and we will leave the area just as we found it before the ceremony.
