8th Annual Polar Bear 5k run/walk & Polar Plunge into Horsetooth Reservoir at South Inlet Bay Swim Beach.
The 5k run/walk course is the same as previous years - starting at the North end of the park near the swim beach pavilion, the course stays entirely inside the park as an out and back on the camp road around the South end to the dead end turn around and back (see map).
The Polar Bear Plunge will be staged on the Swim Beach/boat ramp, (same as previous years) and run in small waves of 3-5 participants at a time. EMS and Dive Rescue will be onsite for the event.

Status: ApprovedComments: We have received notice of your Land Use special event permit application that indicates that you intend to serve alcohol at your event. A special event liquor permit application must be submitted to the Clerk and Recorders office no less than 30 days prior to your event. The application and requirements may be found at https://www.larimer.org/clerk/recording/liquor/special-events. Please let us know if you have any questions.
A Special Event Liquor Permit has been applied for by the applicant and has been approved. Please return the Notice Poster to our office in exchange for the permit. This permit must be present at the event premise.
Status: ApprovedComments: 1.An adequate number of park restrooms and portable restrooms shall be provided for attendees and staff. For 650 attendees and staff for approximately 5-6 hrs, it is recommended to provide a minimum of 6 restrooms (combination of the existing park restrooms and portable restrooms). At least one handicap accessible shall be provided and at least one handwash station for the restroom area.
2.Information was not provided on the food vendor for the post race food service. Each food vendor shall hold either a 2020 Colorado Mobile retail food license (food trucks, push carts, trailers); or a 2020 Larimer County Temporary Event license (all vendors in a tent, even licensed restaurants, need a separate temp event license for Special Event point of sales).
Please note that instant hot beverages and shelf-stable beverages dispensed from bottles and cans do not require a retail food license.
3. Potable water shall be made available to event guests by drinking fountains, potable water taps, commercial bottled water, or from clean and sanitized food-grade beverage dispensing containers. Drinking water must come from an approved, treated public water supply.
4. Trash cans shall be distributed throughout the site, especially next to portable restroom area, food vending and any seating areas. It is recommended to also provide receptacles for recyclables which have signs/pictures of what can be recycled at the event.
