Third-year not for profit mountain bike race and trail run with donations benefitting the Estes Park High School Mountain Bike Team. Mountain bike race on 08/31/2019 and trail run on 09/01/2019. The race will begin at the Estes Park Fairgrounds and proceed via Fish Creek Rd to Little Valley Rd and up 119. The race will be utilizing the same Larimer County land used since 2017. Turn by turn directions and maps are attached to this permit as well as a traffic control plan. Aid stations are all on county road 119 and will not affect traffic. All riders and runners will participate on open roads to vehicles. Riders will be on the road and expected to obey all traffic laws, runners will be on sidewalks when able and shoulders when the sidewalk is not available

Good morning CDOT! Cyclists and runners do not race on the same day. Cyclists race August 31 and runners race September 1.

Thank you for your message. I do not want to apply for a special event liquor permit application. The Estes Epic does not intend to serve alcohol at the event. Sorry for the miscommunication.

Status: ApprovedComments: We have received notice of your Land Use special event permit application that indicates that you intend to serve alcohol at your event. A special event liquor permit application must be submitted to the Clerk and Recorders office no less than 30 days prior to your event. The application and requirements may be found at https://www.larimer.org/clerk/recording/liquor/special-events. Please let us know if you have any questions.
If alcohol will not be present at any part of the event, a Special Event Liquor Permit is not required.
Phil has notified the Clerk & Recorder Department that alcohol WILL be stored/sold/served/consumed at the event, but will ONLY be within City Limits and within an already liquor licensed premise.
Status: ApprovedComments: Tents/canopies must comply with the 2018 IFC. Any tents with open flame / cooking must have 10' of separation between tents.
No cooking in tents per IFC 3140.15 Fuel must be stored outside of the tent with a maximum of 2 bottles not to exceed a combined 80 lbs. All tents over 400 sq ft must apply for a permit directly with the Fire District.
Fire District will conduct a tent inspection the day before or the morning of the event.
Status: ApprovedComments: Bikes must ride on the right side of the road with traffic. Runners must run on the left side of the road facing traffic. (unless an exception is authorized prior to race day)
The race organizer must supply the traffic control devices, set them in place for the race and take them down as soon as practical after the last athlete has passed.
The number of participants in this event can cause traffic congestion. The public must be warned in advance of the race. The race organizer must put up signs at least 18” x 24”, in large clear print readable from 50’, seven (7) days in advance of the event warning citizens of the upcoming event date and times. The signs must be placed on every Stop and Yield sign at every intersection along the race course.
Race marshals or signs must be used to direct the athletes on the course. (Athletes prefer race marshals.)
The event organization must adhere to all Colorado Liquor Laws.

Saturday Bikes - Officers on intersections: (the course is 25 miles so it is out and back twice for 50)

1 Patrol officer - Fish Creek Rd & Little Valley Rd **LC Sheriff Office needs to approve EPPD covering this post. Race organizer will ask LCSO.
Sunday Run - Officer on intersections for the start. One officer can cover both posts:
1 Ofc - Manford Ave & Rooftop Way, as lead runner approaches stop traffic and have the race marshal hold traffic while runners run through the intersection. Officer goes to Brodie Ave & Fish Creek Rd.
2 patrol officers (1 Sat & 1 Sun)($60/hr/ofc) and 4 Auxiliary officers (4 Sat)($35/hr/ofc) are required to staff this event. Please contact Sgt Jeremiah Polucha, 970-577-3861 or firstname.lastname@example.org, to arrange for the officers to work the event.
Status: ApprovedComments: It is understood that food and restrooms for the post-race events will be provided by the Estes Park Fairgrounds. Please ensure free potable water is available at the event if not already provided through drinking water fountains.
Aid stations will supply prepackaged foods in addition to water and energy drinks.
Please provide adequate trash receptacles in the area of the post-race event, as well as aid stations along the course.
