Description:
The Ramble Ride is in its fourth year on this route.

The Ramble Ride is a 3-day supported bike ride to Steamboat Springs, two of which take place in Larimer County. This year due to sponsorship changes, we will host fewer riders and will cap at 60-70 participants. This is a non-competitive, social style ride where riders do not ride in large groups and as in years past, our groups tend to max out at 5-7 riders in any one group, and often riders in groups of 2-3, allowing easy passing by vehicles and other shared road use individuals.

Having hosted this event on the same course for multiple years, our team is well versed with the route, and have established protocols and operational plan that facilitate safety and minimizes impact to the local community.

A change from years past is we no longer are staying at Bellaire Lakes Campground. Instead, we will stay night one at Beaver Meadows. Only about 3 miles further, we anticipate similar arrival times.

We host this event in Larimer County on weekdays to also limit interaction with traffic and weekend use groups in Roosevelt NF. It is our experience that we have very little traffic on the route during this time.

USFS permits in concurrent process.

Health

Status: Approved

Comments: It is understood from past Ramble Ride reviews, food is purchased locally then prepared in the wilderness at the camp sites utilizing a camp kitchen setup.
Please note that food must be sourced from commercial, approved sources...for example: no 'raw' dairy products, no food prepared under Cottage Food Act (home prepared baked goods, jams, salsa, etc), only USDA or equally inspected meats, etc. Approved sources should hold a 2019 Colorado Retail Food license such as a grocery store or restaurant.
The actual food prep and service at the camp sites is exempt from licensing but the food handlers are still required to follow all food safety requirements in regards to temperatures, safe food handling (handwashing, gloves, sanitized surfaces), cooking temperatures, etc. Please see interpretive memo link below:
https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/sites/default/files/14-01_Licensing-of-Retail-Food-Service-Operations-in-Wilderness-Locations.pdf

For more information on food handling at 'outdoor events', please review the following link:

The submitted Operation Plan document is very helpful in understanding logistics for trash/waste, water, restrooms, etc.

Thank you!

Comments: As you know, Buckhorn Road is narrow & w/o shoulders.

Sat phones in sag vehicles (noted) is important because there is no cell coverage on much of the route in RCVFD territory.

Note once you pass the Buckhorn Ranger station you are out of RCVFD response territory.
