Venus de Miles is Colorado's first and only all-women's non competitive rules of the road cycling ride. Now in its 12th year, we offer 3 course lengths for women riders of all skill levels. Venus de Miles is a fundraiser for Greenhouse Scholars, a Boulder-based education nonprofit that cultivates extraordinary leaders to change low-income families and communities.
We offer three course lengths, but the longest course (100 miles) is the course that would use county roads in Larimer County. The other two course lengths (32 miles and 64 miles) are contained within Boulder County roads. Of the 100 miles, 38.6 miles of the course would be within Larimer County (from mile 45.9 to mile 84.5). We are also proposing two rest stops for riders while they are in bounds of Larimer County (and 6 rest stops total along the 100 mile course). The first rest stop in Larimer County is at Windjammer Roadhouse (3431 S County Rd 31, Loveland, CO) at mile 58 of the course. The second stop, at mile 68.8, is at Calvary United Reformed Church (3901 14th St SW, Loveland, CO).
An operations plan, medical plan, and traffic control plan are all attached, as is the detailed course map for our 100 mile course.
No road closure is required for the course; the riders will follow rules of the road.
The beginning and end of the course is in Longmont, so no parking for riders or spectators will be required within the bounds of Larimer County.
Route marking signage will be placed on Friday, August 16th beginning at 9 am and removed immediately following the last rider beginning at 3 pm on Saturday, August 17th and ending no later than 7 pm. Route markers are 10

Proposing a revised route through Loveland that would utilize only roads and no longer need riders to take the bike path. Removes riders from Eisenhower sooner for safety concerns. This route was suggested by one of our ambassadors, who rode the route recently and said this feels safer. Thank you!

Status: ApprovedComments: It is understood that the special event permit is for the portion of the road course that lies in Larimer County. On the Larimer County sections of the race course, there are two rest stops proposed: one at Windjammer and the other at Calvary Church. Information was not provided on what amenities will be available at each rest stop, and whether the businesses/operations would be open for use by the riders.
Please be advised, the Windjammer is supported by a septic system which has limited capacity beyond the daily patrons. The restaurant opens at 11am to the general public on the race day. To alleviate the septic system and any additional wastewater flows from the 100-mile riders, we would request that a minimum of one portable restroom be provided by the event coordinators for race participants.
Please also ensure trash receptacles are provided at portable restrooms and aid stations.
All food and beverages offered at aid stations/rest stops shall consist of nonperishable, shelf-stable contents such as: energy gels and bars, instant beverages (energy drinks, tea, coffee, etc), bagels, muffins, whole uncut fruit such as bananas, apples and oranges, potable water from a municipal source; all preferably individually packaged.
