Adaptive Adventures Inc. together with the City of Fort Collins Adaptive Recreation Opportunities (ARO) program and in collaboration with the Cheyenne VA Medical Center will host an Adaptive Military and Family Multi Sport Day for Veterans, people with physical disabilities and their families. Adaptive Adventures Inc. will be bringing trained staff, adaptive kayaks, stand up paddleboards, an outdoor climbing wall and handcycles for a multi-sport opportunity. Adaptive Adventures will be transporting their own equipment and providing individual waivers that will be signed by all participants using their equipment. Participants will register through the Adaptive Adventures webpage, https://adaptiveadventures.org Approximately 60 participants with physical disabilities, disabled veterans and family members will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of outdoor activities with the support of adaptive equipment and knowledgeable staff and volunteers. The risk management and safety communications plan will include onsite EMS staff, a motorized safety boat with a lifeguard, a climbing wall and cycling safety plan (attached) and will be closely monitored by Adaptive Adventures certified staff. A BBQ will be provided for the perfect event for Veterans and their families at the spectacular and accessible Horsetooth Reservoir South Bay Pavilion. This accessible pavilion and restroom facility with access to the water to launch the boats along with space for the portable climbing wall and cycling is perfect for this event!
