Special Event Permit Detail
Application InformationID: 4538 Event: Timnath Reservoir Road Race
Application Date: 01/10/2019 Event Date: 07/06/2019
Event InformationPermit Type(s): County Road
Our bicycle race event will take place on roads located around Timnath Reservoir. The specific roads that will be utilized are CR 40, Frontage Road, E Prospect Rd and Latham Parkway, creating a 9.7 mile long circuit.
Each race will begin in the event parking lot at Timnath Beerwerks. The race will begin with a neutral start through the town of Timnath, heading north on CR 5. This neutral start happens only once per each respective category race. Riders will turn west onto CR 40 where the racing begins on the circuit.
The Timnath Reservior Road Race is a bicycle race hosted by the First City Cycling Team and NoCo Cycling Project (non-profit). It is being run by the same race director of the 2017 and 2018 CSU Cobb Lake Road Race (now in it's 6th year), and is being modeled in the same fashion.
Cyclists race against one another over the course of multiple laps of the circuit. The race will start at Timnath Beerwerks, with the finish being just east of the CR 5 and CR 40 intersection. Parking for the event will be provided by the City of Timnath in the dirt parking lot just east of Kern St, between 3rd and 4th Avenue. Port-A-Johns and a dumpster will be provided in the dirt parking lot.
There will be an event area with vendors and food trucks on the Timnath Beewerks property. Food will be provided only by the food trucks and/or any pre-packaged items vendors may have.
The circuit will be OPEN to vehicular traffic. Precautions will be taken to ensure the safety of the riders, spectators and vehicular traffic. Certified flaggers will be present along the course to stop traffic as the race approaches, hold as they pass, and release after a safe distance is achieved. Cars traveling in the same direction of the race will be allowed to pass on the left in a safe manner and speed of 35mph. Signs will be posted along the course on the day alerting traffic to the event in progress, as well as race fliers notifying residents in the weeks leading up to the event.
Races will be going on throughout the day in heats. Heats will have start times at 8am, 10am, 1pm and 4pm. Exact schedule is forthcoming.
Utilization of the Timnath Beerwerks event parking lot is approved by Timnath Beerwerks. Both the City of Fort Collins (owners of the Frontage Road, and a portion of Prospect) and the City of Timnath are aware of the event. A City of Timnath event permit is also in progress.
Traffic Control map is being commissioned right now by NoCo Traffic Control, and will be provided as soon as it is completed.
Insurance will be provided through USA Cycling.
