The North County Roller is the Fourth ride in a series of monthly winter rides called The Winter Ralleye, which has been happening annually since 2003. This is a Rules of the Road ride with a safety talk at the start of the ride reminding riders to 1. Follow all street, County Open Space, and City Natural area rules, 2. Be courteous to other users of the road and trails, 3. This is a self supported ride which is ~65 miles long.
The ride begins in Fort Collins at 136 North College Bean Cycle Roaster and completes a loop north of Fort Collins (see above road listing for roads) skirting around the town of Wellington before it turns south near Red Mountain open space and returns back to Fort Collins via Taft Hill Road.
The number of participants will vary drastically depending on the weather leading up to the event.
Insurance will be provided before the ride from Bike Fort Collins which is a non-profit out of Fort Collins.
This is a self supported ride so we will meet at established restaurants/ meeting venue for the start and finish of the ride so they will handle trash and restrooms. There are no support vehicles on the course, there are no aid station. Riders will support each other on the ride if one person is having troubles, be it food, water, or mechanical issues. The traffic control plan for the riders is that they are to obey all traffic laws and ride in a responsible manner. We will use cell phones to notify 911 if there is an emergency. 5 or more of us will also have satellite transponders that can reach friends or a 911 operator (Spot Transmitters)
