I will hike to Horsetooth Falls daily in May and June to survey the emergence of cicadas along the trail. The cicada exuvia (emergence skins) will be collected for sexing. All exuvia and a sample of adult cicadas will be mounted on pins for deposition at the CSU, Gillette Museum of Arthropod Diversity. From February to December, beetles and other insects will be collected from the trail in Horsetooth and Red Mountain on an occasional basis during hikes. No nets or traps will be used during collection. Trails will not be left during hikes, and the only activity apparent to others will be carrying a clipboard and small vials. All other park regulations will be followed.
